D2 Beijing (B,L)

In the morning, take a 1.5-hour drive to the Ming Tombs and explore Dingling Tomb, the burial site of Emperor Wanli (13th Ming emperor) and his empresses. Its Underground Palace astounds visitors with intricate marble carvings and vaulted ceilings. Historical records show the tomb’s construction consumed over 8 million taels of silver (≈300 tonnes), equaling two years of the empire’s total tax revenue.

After lunch, keep driving 1 hour to witness one of the Seven Wonders of the World - the Great Wall. Visit Mutianyu Great Wall which is one of the best preserved yet less crowded sections of the Great Wall. The Mutianyu Great Wall serves as a strategic link between the Juyongguan Great Wall to the west and Gubeikou to the east, effectively safeguarding Beijing throughout history. It has earned the moniker "Perilous Mountain and Mighty Pass". Take your time to explore the Great Wall, and enjoy some hiking (cable car is optional with extra fee).

Then dive back to Beijing downtown, and make a stop at Beijing Olympic Village to view Bird’s Nest and Water Cube from the outside.
